What is Focus Check?
Focus Check is a free ADHD traits test for adults. It asks 20 questions about attention, time, organization, restlessness, impulses and emotions today, plus two about your childhood, and counts how many answers lean toward ADHD traits.
It includes the adult signs many quizzes skip, like time blindness, rejection sensitivity and hyperfocus, because adult ADHD often looks different from the hyperactive kid stereotype.
How to use the test
- Pick your vibe and age. The tone changes the jokes, never the score.
- Answer 10 questions about focus, time and impulses. Think about the last six months, not your most productive week.
- Answer 10 about energy, feelings and childhood. If childhood is fuzzy, think about what teachers or family said.
- Read your result, then share it. If your score is high, take the appointment summary to a doctor.

Childhood signs, which a diagnosis requiresHow we score it
Each answer that leans toward an ADHD trait adds one point, out of 20. Some statements count when you agree and some when you disagree. 0 to 7 is the few-traits range, 8 to 11 is some traits, and 12 or more is many traits.
The questions are original to this site and modeled on the symptom areas in the DSM-5 and on adult features described in research, like time blindness and emotional reactivity. They have not been validated in a clinical study, so treat your score as a rough signal and use a validated tool like the WHO's ASRS for a second opinion.
Frequently asked questions
Can an online test tell me if I have ADHD?
No. A diagnosis needs a clinician who looks at your symptoms, your history before age 12, and other possible explanations. This test helps you decide whether that's worth doing.
Can adults be diagnosed with ADHD?
Yes. CDC found that about 6% of U.S. adults had a current ADHD diagnosis in 2023, and more than half of them were diagnosed at 18 or older.
Isn't everyone a little ADHD?
Everyone gets distracted sometimes. ADHD means these traits are frequent, started in childhood, and cause real problems in more than one area of life.
What is time blindness?
It's a common description of how many people with ADHD experience time: hard to sense how much has passed or how long tasks will take.
Do you save my answers?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you answer is sent to us or anyone else.
